Vic Darchinyan was crowned undisputed super-flyweight champion of the world after knocking out Cristian Mijares.
The Australia-based Armenian added the WBC and WBC titles to the IBF strap he carried to the ring in Carson, California, with a ninth-round KO.
It was his 25th stoppage in 31 victories and means the 32-year-old southpaw now bosses the 115lbs division, with only WBO champion Fernando Montiel a threat to his outright supremacy.
"I promised to show my skills and knock him out and I kept my promise," he said.
"I was always confident I was the best fighter. I had beaten guys that had beaten him."
For his part, Mijares became the latest to be baffled by Darchinyan's unique style, based largely around an outstretched right arm coupled with - and covering up - some fiersome lefts.
It proved a problem from the very first bell and before the end of the first round the Mexican was put down and a left uppercut burst through his confused defence.
The knockdown was not enough to take the sting out of his challenge but having promised to out-think Darchinyan, he then decided to trade freely - and there was only going to be one winner.
Darchinyan dominated the exchanges before finally bringing the fight to a close in the ninth with a crunching straight right that left a tiring Mijares flat on his back, kissing goodbye to both his belts.
"I never fought his style," Mijares said. "My heart came like a Mexican and I did not fight my fight."
