Junior Witter will face Victor Hugo Castro on Saturday night as he makes his return to the ring for the first time since losing his world title.

The Bradford-born boxer suffered a split-decision points loss to American Timothy Bradley back in May in Nottingham.

That defeat, just the second of his professional career, meant an end to Witter's reign as WBC light-welterweight champion.

However, the 34-year-old is now beginning the long road back to the top, starting with a 10-round international bout against an experienced Argentine.

Castro, 33, has only been stopped once inside the distance in his 29-fight career which has seen him move up from lightweight.

Witter's return is on the same bill as British heavyweight Danny Williams at the York Hall in Bethnal Green.

The man from Brixton will be taking on Poland's Albert Sosnowsk following the withdrawal of John McDermott from a British heavyweight title fight.

Lenny Daws is also in action and keen to impress as he looks to fight his way back into contention for the British light-welterweight strap.

Points win

The 29-year-old out-pointed Frenchman Mihaita Mutu over ten rounds in June having lost his title to Barry Morrison in his previous outing.

"I was happy with how it went against Mutu who is an experienced opponent. I'm just waiting to get my chance to go for the British title again," Daws said.

"I just need to keep active and in good form until I get my chance. David Barnes is the champion right now and he has turned his career around.

"He fights Colin Lynes on December 5 and hopefully I can get the winner."
