Khan speaks to Sky Sports News
Amir Khan insists he does not want a quick finish against Oisin Fagan on Saturday night as he looks to get his career back on track.
Khan fights the American-based Irishman at the ExCel Arena in London in his comeback fight following a shock first-round knockout defeat to Breidis Prescott in September.
The 21-year-old Athens Olympic silver medalist cannot afford another slip-up in his fledgling professional career, but claims he does not want an early night.
"It is going to go a few rounds. I want it to go a few rounds," he told Sky Sports News. "I don't want to walk in there and put him away straightaway. I want to get in there, box him a little bit, get back into it properly and let it all flow and hopefully I will be alright."
Khan had to strip naked to make the 9st9lbs limit at Friday's weigh-in but played down any fears about his weight.
"Best to stay right on top of the weight - I should have left breakfast out this morning! I would have made the weight a lot easier," he said. "But I was on the weight. I made it now, I've done the hard bit."
Khan has been rebuilding his confidence with new trainer Freddie Roach in training camp in California and is confident his hard work will pay off.
"It has been a tough training camp and I am confident I am going to go into that fight full of confidence. I have done the hard work in the gym and now it is all about going in the ring and doing the job."
