An announcement about the eagerly anticipated heavyweight clash between IBF, WBO and IBO world champion Wladimir Klitschko and rising British star David Haye is expected next week.

The Klitschko camp confirmed on Sunday that they were close to an agreement following three months of negotiations.

The fight, which had previously been expected to take place in London, now looks likely to be staged in Germany on June 20.

"We have reached agreement on the most important points and we hope to be able to officially announce the fight next week," said Bernd Boente, the Ukrainian's manager.

"There are four sites still in competition to host the fight, which will probably not be in Great Britain, but rather in Germany."

Severed head

The elder Klitschko brother Vitali successfully defended his WBC title against Cuba's Juan Carlos Gomez in Stuttgart on Saturday with a technical knock-out in the ninth-round.

Haye, a former WBA, WBC and WBO cruiserweight champion before he stepped up to the top division, is eager to get in the ring with either one of the Klitschkos and has been gunning for a fight with the pair for some time.

The Ukrainian brothers were deeply unimpressed when he posed with a severed head of Wladimir in a British magazine last year.

Wladimir Klitschko has won 52 of his 55 fights with 46 knockouts, while Vitali has knocked out opponents in 36 of his 37 victories with only two defeats.
