Lenny Daws regained the British light-welterweight title with a revenge victory over Barry Morrison with a 10th round stoppage at York Hall.
'Lightning' Lenny suffered the only defeat of his career more than two-and-a-half years ago when the Scot earned a majority points victory in Daws' first defence of the title.
But while Morrison had since rather lost his way with defeats to Colin Lynes and most recently David Barnes, Daws had slowly been working his way back towards a title shot.
That chance was to come against Ajose Olusegan but when he vacated in favour of greater riches, Morrison was promoted from the undercard to challenge Daws for the vacant belt.
The first half of the fight saw both land quality shots with the jab but neither appeared to be gaining a clear advantage amid frantic action.
However, Daws' workrate was relentless and Morrison started to tire, getting caught off balance on more than one occasion and going down at the end of the eighth, although not taking a count despite looking fatigued and suffering damage to the nose.
He fought back with great heart in the ninth but Daws' tight defence held up and the Scot's gumshield twice came out as he looked to gain some additional time to recover.
The end came surprisingly quickly though, another left-right combination from Daws finding the target, forcing his opponent to take a knee, and after shaking his head towards his corner, Morrison opted against rising before the count of 10.
"It's an absolutely unbelievable feeling," Daws told Sky Sports. "It's a long, long time to wait, but now it's back where it belongs.
"I could hear him inside and felt he was tiring, I knew eventually he would run out of gas.
"Once the gum shield started coming out like it did in the last fight I knew it was mine.
"Onwards and upwards now, it would be nice to win the belt outright. It's been a bit of a jinx recently but it's staying here now."
