The thing is with Pacquaio I don't see any versatility as a fighter; he's a good puncher but just one-dimensional.
Ffloyd Mayweather on Manny Pacquaio
Quotes of the week
Floyd Mayweather says he is ready for a mega-money fight with Manny Pacquiao and believes the new WBO welterweight champion is "one-dimensional".
Pacquiao cemented his claim to be the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet when he stopped Miguel Cotto in Las Vegas on Sunday.
Immediately after the Pac Man's triumph at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, trainer Freddie Roach put Mayweather in the Filipino's sights.
But Mayweather has already upped the stakes ahead of any match-up, saying the Filipino lacks the variety to trouble him.
In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports' Adam Smith, the American said: "The thing is with Pacquiao I don't see any versatility as a fighter; he's a good puncher but just one-dimensional."
Mayweather also believes he is on a hiding to nothing in taking on the fight and would be expected to win easily.
"I'm in a no-win situation. If I beat Manny Pacquiaodo you know what they are going to say? 'You are supposed to beat him, you are Floyd Mayweather, you are the bigger man'. If I knock him out they'll say 'you're supposed to knock him out he's been knocked out before'.
"I'm in a no-win situation and when I beat him no one is going to be surprised because he's been beaten before; whatever I do to Pacquiao has been done before - he's been beaten on three occasions. And if I knock him out I don't want the world shouting because he's been knocked out twice before.
"The world's going to go 'wow' if Floyd Mayweather gets beaten. That's what everyone is looking to see."
Pacquiao was reticent to talk about his plans for future fights in the immediate aftermath of his victory over Cotto, saying: "My job is to fight in the ring and I think that depends on (Top Rank's Bob) Arum my promoter to negotiate that fight. I'm just going to take a vacation first and spend time with my family and have fun."
Mayweather thinks the Filipino is running scared.
"When they asked Manny Pacquiao 'would you like to fight Floyd Mayweather' he said talk to my promoter; they didn't ask your promoter they asked you, what do you want to do?
"Manny Pacquiaowas asked the same question 'do you want to fight Floyd Mayweather' three times. This is something the world is trying to force on him. If he wants to fight Floyd Mayweather all he has to do is step up to the plate."
What is certain is should the fight go ahead, both men will enjoy a bumper pay-day although publicly Mayweather has said he would only fight Pacquiao if he got the lion's share of any purse.
And should the two men meet, the man who now calls himself 'Money' knows he will be in for another cash windfall.
"If I go out and make $60-75million in one night; come on - I'm not losing."
Got a question on boxing? Well you can now put them to former world champion, Glenn McCrory...

I wish mayweather would shut up for once, when was the last time he fought? When was the last time pacman fought? He has just finished a fight im pretty sure if his promoter offers him to fight mayweather but gives him some time to himself first he will take it and he will also be in great shape when he gets there. WHo knows maybe he will even perform another concert afterwards

Never bet against Manny Pacquiao! So many Floyd fanboys on here. Look at the facts. Manny was taking Cottos best shots and was unfazed. Can anyone honestly see Mayweather knocking Manny out? be serious here. Mannys combos will devastate Floyd. He can roll his shoulder all he wants, but Mannys punches will come from all angles. Floyd will be forced into a toe to toe war, and there's only gonna be one winner in that case....!! Pacquiao is just too good. Why are people still writing him off? Mayweather has ducked all the best fighters! It doesn't matter anyway, as Floyd will use money as an excuse for this fight not to happen. The reality is, is thta he's scared and knows Manny will take that 0.

To be honest there is only going to be one outcomme, and that is a Mayweather victory. The pac man will be lucky to hit him let alone knock him out, Mayweather is an incredibly elusive fighter no question the best of a generation, his only downfall, early retirement. If he had not prematurely called it a day he would have already fought and in my opinion beaten Pacquio leaving no room for doubt. This fight has got to happen it would be a travesty if these two great fighters cant sort it out, forget the money fight to prove who is the pound for pound king..... The world is waiting.

Mayweather to win late TKO, Everyone can stop talking about how manny destroyed ODH and Hatton and mayweather struggled, Mayweather didnt fight a weight drained ODH and Mayweather didnt fight a Hatton who had been knocked out and struggled in his previous fights instead mayweather fought ODH at 154lbs and won look at the stats for punches landed and a Hatton who was undefeated and had a nation thinking he was pound for pound king

Manny will always triumph in fights where his opponent wants or has to try and trade with him. Cotto looked sharp and quick at the start of the fight but ultimately manny pushed him to the point where he had no gas left to move and had to stand and trade. When this happened manny had the faster hands and faster footwork. When he fights Floyd, he will meet a master tactician who has unbelievably quick reflexes (did you see him pull his head back out of the danger zone quicker than Marquez could pump out his jab?) which will keep him out of danger with Manny. Floyd will spoil Manny's work and make him miss, frustrating him and making him take stupid chances to land shots. Floyd is an amazing counter puncher and will destroy Manny with either a late stoppage or a comfortable points win. I read above somewhere comparing Manny and Floyds performance against Oscar and Hatton. I'm sorry but if you had ever followed Oscar's career you would no that he was on top form when he fought Floyd and a washed out man when he fought Manny. Floyd gave Hatton a boxing lesson over 10 rounds and was never troubled by him for a moment. He was the first to beat Ricky who was never the same after, leaving an easy victory for Manny. Remember how long Hatton was iin the game for, and then tried to learn a new style from Floyd Snr, you cant teach an old dog new tricks!! Floyd all the way for me, Manny doesn't stand a chance!! Mayweather will be remembered as the Sugar Ray of his era, the greatest fighter of his generation and one of the best fighters ever.

the whole boxing world reconises pacquiao as the best pound for pound fighter at this moment in time. mayweather was once also reconised as the best pound for pound fighter until he retired and had good reson to be reconised as the best as well. you can literaly only beat who who dons the gloves in front of u. mayweather was sometimes critisised for the boring matches and yes rightly so, sometimes he did fight some really boring fights, but he has beaten some really big names, and done what hes had to to preserve his 0. pacquiao on the other hand is a skillful ricky hatton, come forward, speedy hands and power and can take a punch, he has lost a few times, but boy oh boy has he recovered from his last defeat. he is withought doubt the more exciting fighter of the 2 men, but is he better? who knows? the facts are there from past fights to look at, mayweather in my opinion didnt beat de la hoya, pacquiao murdered him, mayweather was troubled a few times by hatton, pacquiao murdered him, so with floyd unbeaten, it really sets up a hell of a fight between the 2 if mayweather dont get stupidly greedy

Seriously, have some of you ever actually watch Mayweather fight?? The guy is a tactical genius who rarely even gets hit never mind marked up in fights, and he also has the speed & power to back it up as well. Don't get me wrong I think Manny is a great fighter and will definitely be a massive challenge and this is why this fight HAS to happen!! Best 2 fighters in the world going 1 on 1 - SPECIAL

Pacquiao is just too quick and powerful for Mayweather. The pacman has the core attributes of a world class fighter, whilst Mayweather is all talk no action. I believe a deal needs to be brokered whereby the greater share of the purse goes to the winner of the fight as this will add an additional incentive and dimension to the fight. Although Mayweather in undoubtable a world class boxer, i have yet to seen any evidence to place him in the same category as Pacquiao, Marciano, Ali, Liston, Sugar Ray and Tyson as boxing legends. These people have all given something to the sport whilst Mayweather has just taken money by dodging too many fights. Pacquiao is the best pound for pound fighter of this era. Kahn vs Mayweather should be a more realistic fight for the Mayweather camp.

Mayweather will run and run like Cotto from seven round he is not real fighter and if he really wants to fight Pacman he need to prepare him self for the shameful out come of the fight, anyway even Pacman fight or not he already proved him self as great fighter of all generation.

Mayweather is such a muppet, Manny would make him look silly and as for his comments. when Sugar Shane Mosely confronted him in the ring about a possible match and what did big mouth do, someone else deals with my fights not me; such a hypocrite. I will be there in vegas next year to watch manny take him apart.

Floyd (I retire every other fight) Mayweather should beat Manny yet Manny keeps doing the business. Hatton and Cotto were once thought of as unbeatable yet he destroyed them both and barely broke a sweat. For that reason I would favour Manny to knock out Mayweather by round ten although he will have to be at his very best to do so and I have no doubt he will be with Freddy Roach at his side. Manny is a gentleman who just does the business. Mayweather is exceptional but fighting every other year is not a true champions way. It's a pity that the Prince Naseems and Mayweathers of this world don't realise that they cannot do the Ali thing. The Greatest did his bragging with a smile and an endearing way that won everyone over sooner or later. The Mayweathers and Naseems just come over offensive and arrogant. Of course it does add excitement to the game as everyone wants to see them get their come-uppence which happened with Barrera and the Prince. I enjoyed that night immensely and would again if Manny did his thing on Pretty Boy. That would be a night to savour. Conversely I always wanted Ali to win. Always! Why? Because he had what the previously mentioned did not have. True Class!

Without question these two are pound for pound the best in the world. I hope they fight because I think it's so difficult to call i'd be intrigued just to see what would happen! Watching the pac-man in his last three fights I find it hard to see how anyone could beat him but mayweather beat de la hoya & hatton (albeit not in the spectacular fashion pacquiao did) and I think he would beat cotto also. People can debate over which style would win but no-one's ever really going to know untill they do fight - and thats the beauty of it.

It will never be an exciting bout if Pacquiao and mayweather fight simply because mayweather would definitely run around the ring when they fight, it would be a boring fight. All of Pacquiao's fights are proof enough that doesn't warrant a mayweather fight anymore. Pacquiao has had enough and we were all excited and delighted from all his fights, why shoud we give importance to mayweather who's really not a fighter. If boxing fans would really love to see Pacquiao fight his last before he hangs up his gloves, it is more exciting and more entertaining if Pacquiao fights either Mosley or Marquez, just for the last time for all boxing fans to see how Pacquiao entertain us all of this generation. I doubt if we can see another Pacquiao in the making, but for mayweather we can see a lot of him out there in boxing rings, boring.

Mayweather beats Pacquiao. His style is perfect for him. Cotto landed a lot of punches when he began fighting off the back foot on saturday and Mayweather wil employ this tactic all night. Pacquiao will spend most of the night walking onto shots, and I think Mayweather wins by late KO or wide points decision. Pacquiao is an all time great, but Mayweather will be a step too far

You want to hear Manny say that he wants to fight you, because you want to be able to say that Manny needs you. Then, you will demand ridiculous money. Also, stop using the 2 previous KO losses of Manny, because nobody is bring that up right now and nobody will bring that up if you beat him. If people are looking at those 2 previous losses, then they should be putting Rustico Torrecampo and that Thai fighter ahead of Manny in the pound-for-pound best. You are all talk. Agree to 50/50 and fight Manny!

Why is it that Mayweather thinks Pacquiao is running scared? Lets see Mayweather do what Pacquiao has done in his career so far and then he can talk the talk. Mayweather is just another overpriced, overconfident "primadonna" athlete like all these others. If you are a fighter then fight don't say I am Big and Bad and the Best but I won't fight you unless I get more money than you! just ask Dela Hoya, Hatton, Cotto what kind of fighter he is? Mayweather if you are the best why didn't you fight Cotto and take his title thus ensuring you have to meet Pacquiao!!!!! do the sport a favor go back in to retirement you are not worth it!
