Brook: On the up
British welterwight champion Kell Brook will face European opposition for the first time on Frank Warren's Night of Champions show on February 13.
Brook, who bagged a Lonsdale Belt outright with victory over Michael Lomax in July, will take on Pole Krzysztof Bienias at Wembley Arena in what is likely to be a WBO title eliminator.
The British Boxing Writers' Young Boxer of the Year will fight for Bienias' WBO Intercontinental strap with the winner challenging for the world title currently held by Manny Pacquiao.
"Bienias has a great record and he's going to be a very dangerous opponent," said Brook, who is ranked seventh by the WBO.
"He's the kind of guy that I need to beat if I'm going to get to world level.
"He's above me in the ratings and if I beat him then I'm going to be progressing nicely and I'll be one step closer to that world title opportunity."
Bienias, while rarely stepping outside his native Poland, has not been beaten since he was stopped in the second round by then-European champion Junior Witter in 2004.
Brook will feature on a star-studded bill headed by Sam Sexton and Danny Williams' British & Commonwealth heavyweight title clash.
Also on the card is top lightweight Kevin Mitchell while Derek Chisora and Matt Skelton face off in another fascinating heavyweight contest.
