Napa: Euro title chance
Ian Napa will plough ahead with the defence of his British bantamweight belt despite knowing he will be risking his chance of reclaiming the European title.
Napa is due to take on Jamie McDonnell at Brentwood Centre on Friday January 22 - with his domestic crown at stake.
The 31-year-old, though, has been nominated to face Frenchman Jerome Arnould for the vacant European title - with the fight set for March or April.
However defeat to McDonnell would cost him his chance to fight for the European belt he lost to Malik Bouziane.
Promoter Frank Maloney said: "The pressure is on now for Ian, because a loss to McDonnell and the EBU will withdraw their nomination.
"The fight against McDonnell is all or nothing for Ian, but if he has prepared right McDonnell cannot beat him."
The 24-year-old Arnould is a former world title challenger, having fought Wladimir Sidorenko for the WBA bantamweight belt in June 2007.
And since his seventh-round defeat to Sidorenko, Arnould has gone on an eight-fight winning run.
