Haye talks humiliation
I have worked too hard to be beaten by someone of the calibre of Audley Harrison. I am not only going to beat him, I am going to humiliate him, I am going to destroy him and I am going to retire him.

World heavyweight champion David Haye told Sky Sports News why he decided to defend his title against Audley Harrison.

Haye, 29, will take on 2000 Sydney Olympics gold medallist Harrison on November 13 at Manchester's MEN Arena, live on Sky Box Office, in a contest that pits the two former friends and sparring partners against each other.

Haye opted to face Harrison after failing to secure a bout against either WBC champion Vitali Klitschko or his brother Wladimir, the WBO and IBF holder - even though he believes his opponent is undeserving of a title shot.

"Everybody want to see this - I get more messages and emails about people wanting me to fight Audley than anyone else," said Haye on Sky Sports News.

"The British public know who he is, they have seen Audley for the last 10 years and is a household name. They genuinely want me to destroy him. They have heard him piping up in the press but they know what I have achieved and they have seen what I have done over the years representing Britain in the best possible way.

"I have done my part and he hasn't and people are sick of that. There is nothing worse than people who have not achieved anything trying to drag me down and take my name. People do not want him to carry on boxing and they want me to be the one to close the show on him."

There is no need fo any extra spice in this fight as the former friends genuinely have a dislike for each other with Haye saying that Harrison is jealous of his success.

"I think it is all jealousy," added Haye. "He won the Olympics in a blaze of glory and said he would be the heavyweight champion and he has not achieved that.

"He has just talked a load of nonsense - he got a deal with the BBC and just fought as many bums as he could fight. He was directly responsible for stopping boxing on the BBC. People hold him responsible for that as they should.

"He has seen me achieve my goals and he is delusional - he truly believes he is going to beat me when he has never done anything in his career to suggest that he can do that.

"It is up to me to show the difference in class especially between the heavyweight champion of the world and the European champion - which is the best he can claim."

No surprises in store for Haye

Haye is well aware that in heavyweight boxing one punch can change a fight. And while he believes that Harrison is not in his class, he will be training harder than ever before for this fight.

"I know when he is effective and I know what makes him a good fighter - and on his day he can be. I know what attributes he has that have made him successful to a certain degree.

"I know why he has fallen down in the past. I have seen him and I have trained with him and I know what he is like mentally. He is going to be unprepared for what I am going to bring to him.

"There is nothing he can do to win this fight because I am going to train harder than I have ever trained before. When I am in the gym training I am going to be putting in twice as much than I normally do because the humiliation of even not looking good against Audley Harrison is a no-no.

"I am not even considering losing this fight," added Haye. "I have worked too hard to be beaten by someone of the calibre of Audley Harrison. I am not only going to beat him, I am going to humiliate him, I am going to destroy him and I am going to retire him.

"I am going to have to be better than ever for this fight. He has got his chance but he is not going to be able to do anything with it, I am going to expose him once again, I am going to destroy him."

I post on here often but for some reason they never get put up. I am and have always been a Haye fan but this takes the biscuit! There are a dozen fighters Haye should fight if not the K-Bros. Adamek, Solis, Povetkin, Chambers, Arreola and Peters are just a few (cannot believe that someone suggested Audley better than the super dangerous Nigerian). I understand that Haye has to make as much money as he can but was offered 50-50 of everything vs the Klits and told the fight could be in the UK. He then came back and said that he believes that there are networks in Germany who would pay more, so what 50-50 is 50-50. Audley is a talented boxer but no fighter which has been proven against Williams, Guinn, Sprott and Rogan but he has skills and can punch, most likely Haye KO''s him quickly or Haye goes into his shell and just tries to survive, there is always a chance that he lands the big shot though and that would mean Hayes credibility entirely. The only way he can redeem himslef for this is to destroy Audley then fight a Klitschko next.

I don''t understand how anyone has respect for Haye in the first place. The fight against Valuev was a disgrace. Haye must have had some pretty big blisters on his feet from all of that running. You are expected to ''win'' the heavyweight title by taking it off your opponent (see Dempsey, Ali and Tyson). Not by running away from him for 12 rounds. Although not likely to happen, I hope Fraudley knocks him out with a lucky punch and Haye can get back in his box, because he hasn''t beaten anybody as far as I''m concerned.

Firstly id like to ask how on earth audley harrison deserves a shot at david haye? Audley Harrison got very lucky with Sprott, he was getting beat right up until his lucky punches, but well done for winning against a man who is well past his sell by date. Audley Harrison has not got what it takes to deserve a world title shot. he has no heart and no skill anymore. I think david haye should give martin rogan a shot at the title when he gets his feet on the ground after his serious neck injury. Martin deserves it more than harrison, hes won prizefighter, beat harrison then went over to birmingham to ko matt skelton which may i add no boxer had ever done up until that!!!! so why not fight rogan haye, he will give you a far better run for your money and as we know rogan has the punching ability to take the tough guys out, and david you have a glass jaw, your the world champ and il not take that away from you tho, so man up and fight a fighter instead of a man who cnt live up to his promises

Pretty disgraceful stuff from Haye, i mean to be talking about crushing the 2 Klitschkos for so long,we as boxing fans expected it to be the next fight for him.I got bored of hearing him talk about fighting them, and now we know it was all crap,he has so many excuses.

David Haye, who are you kidding?, I dont know anyone who has bought into this. It''s an absolute disgrace that you want to hoodwink and deceive your fans in this way. I mean honestly, do you actually believe this is the fight that your fans want? your fooling no one. I bet Audley Harrison feels like he has won the lottery, he has nothing to lose as no one expects anything from him. You on the other hand stand to lose it all, and I bet a small chunk went at the announcement of this. I wont bother wasting my money watching you fight a fighter you quite rightly described as "The guy directly responsible for stopping boxing on the BBC". Last year you said you want to retire within 3 years!!. I now feel you have missed the boat at unifying the Heavyweight Championship as your not getting any younger and for 1 reason or another a fight with the Klitschko Brothers keep slipping away. I dont want to keep Quoting you but I will end with this, (on Audley Harrison) "he got a deal with the BBC and just fought as many bums as he could fight". Ermm Am just wondering why you are fighting Audley, a Bum in British fight fans eyes?. PEOPLE IN GLASS HOUSES AND ALL THAT SPRING TO MIND!! Good Luck Anyway, Chris (Still a Haye Fan, Just a little disgruntled).

What does Haye mean everyone wants to see this fight, the emails he talks about are the ones he sends to himself!!! I don''t understand how the WBA is letting this happen, it is a disgrace and someone needs to intervene!! Clearly Haye doesnt want to fight the Klitchskos, because he knows he will get seriously hurt, just like Fraudley will!!! The sport of boxing is again a laughing stock!!! Dana White must be licking his lips!!!!!!

David haye talks too damn much ! ! ! good fighter but needs to fight genuine contenders and not has beens as some previous british champs do especially when their opponents are old and no more in their prime.this is why ricky hatton will go down as one of the greats of boxing for putting himself on the line against real opposition ! ! !

Jon Mercer says...

I can''t believe people are having a go at David Haye for taking this fight. You lot spent last 10 years moaning about fraudley then when chance arises for some one to put him away for good you mock the person whose gonna do it. As for the klitchkos we all know theyre no better then mayweather when it comes to agreeing terms. There demands were ridiculous and Haye rightfully walked away from a joke of a offer they were demanding. Now those 2 are fighting nobodies and making peanuts while Hayes got the best deal of the lot by facing fraudley and make millions. All of you on here mock Haye for his decision but can any of you with a straight face say you''d turn down millions that you deserve as champ or fight 2 so call world champions for peanuts. David Haye know''s his worth and he''s not letting anyone take him for a ride. lets be glad of 2 things 1) the joke that is fraudley that we all have been moaning about will come to an end and 2) The Klitchkos will learn they really wont make any money or legacy by trying to get out of fights by purposely making unreasonable demands. For gods sake WE have a world champion lets try to back him shall we, its not his fault those around him are either useless or scared...

Harrison good luck mate, one thing people cant say is that you give up. Youve got one chance now to prove everyone wrong. When you beat Haye please dont dodge the Klitshkos aswell, we need someone to stick to there word. I genuiengly hope you win.

All I can say is what an insult this is to every other ranked heavyweight. This guy has done NOTHING to deserve a shot at the world title.

Rob Owens says...

This fight shouldn''t be allowed. Harrison is rated 13th by the WBA!!?? Which begs the question, HOW? Thats 13 fighters Haye should fight before he fights Harrison. Fight the Klitchkos, I genuinely believe Haye would beat both of them. Fight harrison and people will laugh at you. Win or lose. Or is this a stunt for Comic Relief?

Jay Mann says...

Just when we thought we had a british world champion to be proud of.. he does this.... is it just me... or is there some ''guilty pleasure'' of hope thats wants Haye to actually be beaten just so he is humiliated enough to realise what a mistake this really was. Be interested if Audley catches Hayes chin... cause he might not be a decent boxer but hes still big enough to throw a punch....

Jamie Rossiter says...

People critisize Haye for taking on the ''A-Farce'', but look at the bums that the Klit bros have taken on over the years...Haye can only fight who''s put in front of him....look at Samuel Peters or Shannon Briggs....both pathetic fighters...probably not even in Aubrey''s league....

Whats going on??? True boxing fans have been waiting all year for Haye klitschko, and poor fights like this just p**s true fans off. U cant say that you havnt been able to secure the fight that everyone wants to see, you shouldnt be griping about 60/40 50/50 etc, if you where a true champ u would fight the klitschko`s for nothing and prove your worth! gaining you full respect from your fans rather than loosing it by pulling stunts like fighting this washed up bum who won his last fight with 1 lucky punch!!! Humiliate Harrsion?? he`s been doing that to himself for years. You have gone way down in my estimations cant help but think you must be scared of the klitschko`s........

Big fan of you David but this is not the fight your fans wanted to see.

Alan Hollis says...

I think David has wanted to fight the Klitschko brtohers, but maybe they don''t want to fight him just yet! We don''t know all the machinations that go on behind the scenes; money, venue, other reasons for not getting it on... In this fight I believe he will outbox Harrison and win by a KO, or TKO, well within the distance. If anything, it is Harrison who is making a mistake by taking on Haye. If Harrison fights like I''ve seen him, it will be case a of trying to do the minimum necessary, but neither that, nor his best, will be enough to overcome the Haymaker. Haye to win in Round 7 by a KO or TKO - and I''m not a betting man!

does any 1 think that the sport of boxing is all to do with money?,audly is nowhere near some of the other guys who deserve a shot at haye... I hope audley gets in a lucky punch and floors haye, then the big pay day with K brothers will be over.

Don Juan says...

Haye is far far too powerful and aggressive for audrey too handle which is a shame as audrey has a perfect figure for a heavyweight fighter, he''s tall, well muscled, long arms and a perfect weight..he just simply can''t fight..he reminds me of Bruno, looks physically imposing but has no bottle or inner toughness that you need to have at the top level...Haye will win, I expect him to knock audley out within 2-3 rounds and like previous comments, what next? he won a fight everyone expected him too..?? Lets get behind both fighters and hope for an entertaining fight, hopefully this will be the last fight of audleys career...

Martin Crowley says...

I am looking forward to this fight. I have always disliked Audley and it''s going to be funny seeing him get KO''d by Haye. It is a bit disappointing that Haye went for this fight and not the Klitchkos but I am sure it''s because he doesn''t want to get mugged off financially by the two brothers. He will fight them next year after battering Fraudley!
