Carl Froch spoke of his pride in his performance after completing a crushing points victory over Germany's Arthur Abraham in their WBC super middleweight world title fight in Helsinki.
The 'Cobra' lost just one round on one of the three judges' scorecards as he moved into second place on the Super Six: World Boxing Classic scoreboard behind tournament leader and WBA champion Andre Ward.
"It was a satisfying and utterly dominating performance on Saturday night, if I say so myself. Before the fight, the press and bookmakers were all split over the likely outcome between us," said Froch on his return to Nottingham.
"Arthur Abraham was seen as someone with a fantastic defence which was only bettered by his heavy hands. But I knew that if I could blow the cobwebs off my boxing skills and stay focused, there was simply no way he would beat me. I needed to make a statement and I think everyone will agree that Saturday's effort was exactly that.
"I'm so proud to be wearing the WBC title again around my waist and I want to say a big thank you to all of my fans who made the effort to brave the sub-zero temperatures and spend money on coming over and supporting me.
"It was great to meet so many of them and I hope that they enjoyed the beating I put on Abraham as much as I did. My twitter and facebook pages have been overwhelmed with good luck messages and congratulations and it makes the weeks of hard work all worthwhile.
"The support of David Haye and so many other British boxers has touched me and it's also nice to be recognised by the press and boxing journalists alike."
Froch will now face veteran former light heavyweight champion Glen Johnson in the Super Six semi-finals in the New Year.
The 41-year-old Johnson advanced to the last four stage by stopping Allan Green in Las Vegas earlier this month.
Froch added: "Next up for me is 'The Road Warrior' Glen Johnson. The man who put Roy Jones Junior's lights out. He has been campaigning up at light heavyweight for a few years against elite opposition. He is a rough, tough handful and I will not be overlooking him.
"But right now I'm going to spend quality time with my family and loved-ones over Christmas."
In fairness guys Calzaghe is probably walking around at about 200lbs at present and wouldn't have a hope of making super-middle or even light - heavy for that matter. Let the man enjoy his retirement, he has earned it. These things work in cycles. Froch is way out on his own as Britian's best super middle and when he is nearing retirement expect DeGale and Groves to call Froch out just like Froch did with Calzaghe. Froch doesn't need Calzaghe, he is well on his way to cementing his own great legacy without him.

well done carl superb performance you made a decent fighter look like a club guy!! cant wait to see you fight johnson then ward to be double world champ will make the trip from the uae for that one!

What a fantastic result. Froch has been a true professional in the manner in which he has regained his WBC belt. I must agree with everyone else at the confusion of why he hasn't got a decent tv deal or isn't more well known. He is great value for money. Even when he isn't in the wars, he puts on a master class and wins his WBC belt back. What more would a punter want. An entertainer and a winner. Surely Sky would read the comments on their own website about this guy's popularity and offer him something. I guess its all about politics and budgets, which leaves us fans clueless and watching inferior boxing. Heavyweight prizefighter anyone? We want the quality fights of quality British boxers winning world titles!

It is incredible to think that we have such an amazing champion and nobody knows him. He has achieved everything he said he would, so far. I have been a boxing fan for many years and believe Carl has to go down as one of the greatest because of the guys he has fought. He should be a household name by now.
Posted 09:23 2nd December 2010
Carl you are a legend, you beat Abraham very well. The so-called experts thought that Abraham would beat you easily by KO, but like a true champion you made him look like a second-rate fighter. All the best against Johnson. It wil be very tough, but like a true champion I know that you will find a way. Calzaghe is said to have ducked this guy so you show that you are a true warrior with the biggest heart and courage in boxing.

He's the best we have. Better than Haye. Somebody please give this man a decent TV deal. My god he deserves it...

A great warrior, and a proud man; Froch is someone who is not afraid to fight anyway in the world. Deserves all the credit he get, (I dont think he gets enough to be honest). Have a great Christmas with the family and see you in 2011.

Froch doesn't get the credit he deserves. It was a great victory, he's proving to be a great fighter and not just a mouth. I think the reason fans weren't warming to him is because of his constant talk of Calzaghe in every interview.

I would just like to say that it is great to see Froch as a world champion again as he is a great boxer. After hearing how much Harrison earned out of his fight with Haye I think its about time Froch earned some good money. I dont think I have ever watched a Froch fight and thought I didnt get my moneys worth out of it.

Carl and his entire team got this one spot on. I must admit, I didn't think you could do the job on Abraham. However, you not only changed my mind, you gained a big fan. The fight plan was perfect, Abraham had absolutley no answer. Well done to both you and Mac. Perfect.

Another masterclass from Froch. A true warrior and a truly underrated fighter who the Americans just dont rate. Hopefully he will do a number on Johnson and become the Super Six champ v Ward in the final. Good luck Carl, have a great xmas and come back stronger in 2011!

Froch is value for money. He has treated us to a brilliant selection of fights recently. He lost his title and won it back by having the guts to fight the best and hes never been descisively beaten. He is a true warrior and a principled man. Carl the Cobra Froch.

Carl Froch thank you for putting pride into British boxing you are a true warrior who deserves everything out of the sport
Posted 17:23 30th November 2010
Fanastic boxing masterclass! About time the cobra used his head. Can go in the trenches when required but why do that every fight? Brilliant well done Frochy!!!!!
Posted 17:04 30th November 2010
Big Calzaghe fan here, but congratulations to Mr Froch. Very good performance.
Posted 16:48 30th November 2010
Carl should be proud. what he is doing is unknown for British fighters and he deserves massive respect for having put his career on the line to compete constantly at such an elite level. I beg him not to be too complacent about Johnson though, he will be there for the full 12 in front of Carl giving as good as he gets so he'll need another top class performance. For now i hope Froch enjoys his more than well deserved Xmas break as the WBC Champion. Well done Carl, you did everybody proud
