Audley Harrison will be paid in full following his controversial bout with David Haye last November.
The former Olympic champion angered fight fans and pundits after landing just a single punch before he was stopped in the third round of the much-hyped world title fight.
The British Boxing Board of Control pledged to investigate the matter and had the power to withhold a percentage of his purse, but after interviewing Harrison they have chosen to let the matter rest.
"The Stewards of the British Boxing Board of Control having interviewed Mr. Audley Harrison MBE with regard to his contest against Mr. David Haye... have accepted his explanation and will not be taking the matter any further," a statement read.
Harrison, who reportedly received in excess of £1.5m for the fight, was expected to retire but has since pledged to continue his increasingly bizarre boxing odyssey.
the way the fight went shouldnt be a surprise to anyone who has even a vague interest in boxing, it was one of the biggest miss-matches in prime time boxing history. i paid to watch the fight and i dont feel ripped off at all, i always knew haye would destroy him because i'd already seen a certain irish taxi driver do the same to harrison (no disrepect to rogan). i was surprised it lasted as long as it did. i think it was odd that harrison got the chance as there are so many other fighters who should have been ahead of him in the queue, but i actually enjoyed seeing haye put him in his place, like many others had already done to harrison before, and unfortunately (as he still wont retire!) will do so in the future. we should respect harrison really, in a way, for making so much money out of a game he is clearly so poor at. if anyone needed any evidence that good amateur boxers dont always make good pro's, audley harrison is exibit A.

Audley Harrison has no self respect or back bone. If he did, he would not show his face in public or give a tv interview again. If i was his family member or his friend, I would sit him down and tell him to stop making a fool of himself and quit, because he is not good enough. If i did that at work, i would be instantly dissmissed. Need I say more.

He used to run our Uni boxing Club before his Olympic Gold Medal. Really nice fella who unfortunately proved to be a great amateur boxer who ultimately was unable to convert that to the Pro Game. He'd probably be the first to admit that he put on a substandard performance, however, his Olympic success, in my opinion earnt him the right to that pay day. You don't become an Olympic champion in any event or sport without determination and talent. Have one more fight to finish on a win, hang up your gloves, and continue with the good work you do for your local community.

i think it was reight to pay him something but not the full purse,i wouldn't mind getting in the ring for 1.5 mil and only having to throw one punch.as for him fighting again who in their right mind would pay to watch him,to be honest the next fight he has he should do for free, with free tickets for all those fans who paid good hard earned money to see him against haye.

They had to give him the money as they sanctioned this travesty of a fight. Harrison is no boxer and should have been forced to retice by the BBBC, Haye is a joke who wont fight anyone of real quality. Anyone who paid for a ticket and went to see this was a mug and anyone who paid to watch it on the TV is an idiot. There is no heavyweight out there worthy of paying to see. What a total sham the division is now, the heavyweights out there now are tarnishing the reputations of the likes of Ali, Foreman, Tyson and Lewis and many great others who were true champions.

The consensus is that Audley Harrison should not be able to exploit his obvious marketing skills within boxing again. The guy has talent but no heart. I think the BBBC should have taken 5% of his purse and donated it to the 2012 Olympic boxing team, then at least his shameful display might have benefited someone. As for David Haye, if he had spent the same amount of energy trying to arrange a unification fight it might have happened. Lets get behind Froch and Khan to represent British boxing

Audley is a joke and i believe David Haye was in on it. That fight was farcical if not completely contrived. Some money should have been withheld for that fix/farce. The man is an unashamed conartist.

How can Fraudley keep ending up with great exposure on our screens while a warrior like Carl Froche barely warrants a mention? The Authorities need to ensure Fraudley is never sanctioned to rip off the paying public again. I am 41 and would weigh in at Super Middleweight but would still fancy my chances against that glass jawed clown.

Agree they cant with hold his purse as they sanctioned the fight but what about all the veiwers that paid for the fight! I just wish he would retire as hes an embarrisment to all the hardworking fighters who will never earn a pay day like that in their life.

what people dont understand is that audley harrison is the greatest ever boxer. He made £1.5 million just by throwing a single punch! never mind mayweather, audleys a money machine!
Posted 13:51 12th January 2011
I can't believe that FRAUDLEY has been paid his full purse. Should of been witheld end of story. The blokes a shambles. If its possible to do what he done against Haye..... (A fight he should of gone all guns blazing in) ill step into the ring with Haye and throw one punch for £1.5m definately!!!!!!!!!
Posted 12:53 12th January 2011
You can with-hold it and they should at least dock it and give ppv customers a partial refund.
Posted 11:59 12th January 2011
What a Joke!!!! Maybe I should take up Boxing and just stand there like a punching bag like harrison then I could earn 1.5m for me and my family! Seems to me anyone can be aprofessional fighter these days, Boxing is being turned into a joke especially the heavyweight division its full of bums like Harrison. Do everyone a favour Harrison and retire your adisgrace.

Glad to hear it, holding a man's purse because he lost a fight is a joke, doesnt matter what happened. He's a nice guy and I firmly believe he trained incredbily hard for this fight, it just didnt work out for him, with no thanks to the ref for stopping the fight way too early. Anyone who complains about not getting their moneys worth is an absolute idiot, everyone knew there was a chance this could happen so why did you pay for it in the first place?? Everyone knew Harrison's reputation beforehand yet you still paid for the fight, and now your complaining about it?? Give me a break.

There's no way they could withhold his purse. Audley has a history of freezing during fights and everyone knows it. The BBBC knew this and still sanctioned the fight. To withhold his purse would be to admit they'd made a mistake in the first place and that's something they'd never do.

1.5 million? for that amount of money i'd fight my heart out for as long as i lasted... im 13 stone and unfit and i'd put on a far better fight then Harrison. That's an unbelieveable amount of money.
Posted 22:50 11th January 2011
I can't believe so many people paid to watch this fight. Have you not seen Harrison since he turned pro? Did you not realise it would be a waste of money? If people didn't pay to watch it then maybe he wouldn't be able to carry on his farcical career. Even Hay has become a joke for taking on the fight. Everybody knows the fights that the heavyweight division needs, so we should only pay if they come along. That will make the fights that we want happen.
Posted 22:28 11th January 2011
pay me 1.5 million and i will fight audley harrison and david haye. and i bet i throw more punches.......end of subject
Posted 22:07 11th January 2011
Chris Mccarthy has it right. It is sad because i believe Harrison actually trained really hard and all the way up to fight time believed he'd win , but come fight time he just froze. Haye should also be blamed for taking the fight , especially after all he said abot the joke that is Audley Harrison. So what does that make Haye for taking this fight. It's up to the promoters and tv people if they want to keep faith in Audley but they'll be shooting themselves in the foot if they do. Audley should retire right now . Haye should either make the K fights happen even if he has to go past his silly self imposed retirement date. If he's not prepared to do that he should retire right now. All he is doing by fighting Chagaev (one of the bums on Wlads record acc to Haye) is taking the Michael.
