Mittal: Richest man in British football
QPR shareholder Lakshmi Mittal has been named the richest man in British football, according to new research.
The London-based Indian steel magnate owns a 20 per cent stake in the Hoops and is worth an estimated £18.4billion according to FourFourTwo.com.
The research takes into account all the people who have an affect on the British game including chairman, directors and players.
Mittal knocks Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al Nahyan off top spot from last year with the Abu Dhabi royal estimated at £17billion.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich sits third with a fortune of £7.8billion - some £800million more than he possessed last year.
Arsenal shareholder Stan Kroenke comes in at fifth with his £2.709billion while the Glazier family, owners of Manchester United, are seventh with £1.75billion.
David Beckham is way ahead of his contempory's in the players department after more than 15-years of top level wages and celebrity endorsements with the list valuing him at a massive £125million.
Manchester United and Chelsea players dominate the top 10 but perhaps somewhat surprisingly Michael Owen (£38m) comes in at number two just ahead of team-mate Wayne Rooney (£37m).
Red Devils duo Rio Ferdinand (£30m) and Ryan Giggs (£24m) make up the top five while Michael Ballack appears to have the bragging rights down at Stamford Bridge with an estimated fortune of £22m.
Chelsea team-mate Frank Lampard comes a close sixth with £21m ahead of England counterpart Steven Gerrard (£20m) and Chelsea and England captain John Terry (£18m).
Blues striker Didier Drogba makes up the top 10 with a cool £16m.
On the managers front, England boss Fabio Capello comes out on top with a huge £30million while Roy Keane (£27m) comes in second ahead of mentor Sir Alex Ferguson (£22m).
Carlo Ancelotti should settle quickly to life in England with a £17m fortune while Sven Goran Eriksson hangs onto a top five berth with £15m.
Arsene Wenger (£15m), Harry Redknapp (£10m), Rafael Benitez (£9m), Martin O'Neill (£9m) and Mark Hughes (£8m) make up the top 10.
