McGuire: Big loss
Catalans Dragons face an injury crisis at stand-off for the Carnegie Challenge Cup final.
The French side cruised past historical cup specialists Wigan Warriors in the semi-finals with a 37-24 victory at the end of July.
But hopes of a dream debut in the final at the new Wembley now look to have been dashed by injuries to key men.
Australian stand-off Casey McGuire, who starred in the Halliwell Jones Stadium upset, suffered a pectoral muscle injury in the weekend's defeat to Huddersfield Giants.
Tests will determine the extent of the damage, but the former Brisbane Broncos player looks set for at least four weeks on the sidelines.
The Dragons have no obvious replacement meanwhile, with Thomas Bosc out of action after breaking his arm on July 21.
Catalans were already major underdogs for the showdown against all-conquering holders St Helens on August 25, but coach Mick Potter now faces with a real selection conundrum.
The champions visit Perpignan in Super League on Saturday, with the chance to lay down a strong marker ahead of the cup clash.
