Jamie Thackray has completed his return to Hull FC in a deal that will see him play out the season at the KC Stadium.
The 28-year-old front row was released by Leeds on Wednesday after failing to get a run in the side and was widely expected to return to the team with which he won the Challenge Cup in 2005.
Chief executive James Rule said: "With our current injury problems, we felt this was an opportunity not to be missed.
"Jamie will strengthen our squad - and as we all know from his time at the club, he can provide a real explosive impact to games."
With Hull missing several key players already this season Thackray has been thrust straight into the squad for the this weekend's trip to Les Catalans.
Front row Paul King is also free to play after avoiding suspension for a high tackle in the Good Friday derby at Craven Park.
"Having Kingy and 'Thacks' in the squad for the weekend is a real boost, because we're still without Carvell and Ewan Dowes - and Peter Cusack looks likely to miss the game because his wife is expecting over weekend," said coach Peter Sharp.
