Leeds Rhinos v Melbourne Storm Scott Donald try

Donald: Scorer of important tries

Leeds Rhinos have signed Australian winger Scott Donald up for another season at Headingley.

The 27-year-old former Manly flier, who scored the winning try in Leeds' World Club Challenge triumph over Melbourne Storm, has scored 53 tries for the club since joining in 2006.

He also scored a long-range try in the Rhinos' 33-6 win over St Helens in last October's Grand Final and new coach Brian McClennan is well aware of the player's quality.

"Scotty is the best finisher in Super League," McClennan said. "In big games, he knows how to get over the tryline but his awareness in defence is first class and he has an excellent kick return.

"In our opinion, he is the number one winger in Super League and off the field is a first-class guy too."

Donald, who also had a staggering conversion rate at Manly with 48 tries in 68 appearances, is second behind Warrington's Chris Hicks in the early Super League tryscoring chart with nine.

"I am extremely happy to have agreed a new deal for next season," Donald said.

"Myself and my family are really happy in Leeds and we are looking forward to the future.

"The club is going in the right direction and I want to be part of it. It is nice to have the support of the fans and that is what makes this such a great club to play for."

See if Donald can add to his tally as Leeds head to St Helens away live on Sky Sports 1 from 7.30pm, Friday, looking to open up a six-point lead over the Challenge Cup holders.
