Matterson: Nine signings for 2009
Hull KR hooker Kirk Netherton has switched to Castleford as their ninth signing for 2009.
The 22-year-old moves to The Jungle on a one-year deal to provide back-up to the Tigers' new first-choice hooker Ryan Hudson.
The player - who is the cousin of Rovers second rower Jason Netherton - says he is pleased to be part of the set-up at Cas.
He told the club's official website: "I'm really looking forward to joining the Tigers and a new challenge, and I'm looking forward to working alongside Ryan Hudson.
"I have seen that Cas have made a number of new signings, the squad for 2009 looks very promising and I'm pleased to be part of it."
Tigers coach Terry Matterson added: "This is a real opportunity for Kirk. He goes well and he is also versatile with some experience in the back row.
"He will compliment Ryan Hudson and with Ryan, Kirk and Rangi Chase I feel that we have the dummy half role more than covered."
After starting with Hull FC's Academy squad, Netherton was released and joined Doncaster but then suffered a knee injury which led him to spending some time out of the game.
On his return, he spent an impressive 2007 season as a member of Rovers senior academy side.
He then moved up to Rovers senior squad for 2008, making 21 Super League and two cup appearances.
