Sky Sports and engage Super League have today announced the first live televised fixtures for Super League XIV.
Sky Sports, in consultation with engage Super League and the clubs, has confirmed 27 live league games covering the first four months of the 2009 season.
Live coverage of Super League XIV begins with champions Leeds Rhinos against new entrants Celtic Crusaders live on Sky Sports on Friday, February 6, at 8pm. Crusaders' Round 1 match against Salford will be also live on Sky Sports on Saturday, February 14 at 6pm.
In total, Sky Sports will broadcast 58 matches from the engage Super League XIV exclusively live and in high definition including Play-Off matches and October's Grand Final.
Sky Sports viewers can look forward to seeing:
EVERY CLUB - each of the 14 engage Super League teams will be seen live by Saturday 7 March.
LEADING CLUBS - Each of last year's top four club St Helens, Leeds, Catalans and Wigan will be seen live in the opening month of the season.
BIG CLASHES - Wigan v St Helens, Hull v Hull KR, and Bradford v Leeds will all be live over the Easter Weekend, 9 to 13 April.
NEW CLUBS - Crusaders appear live for the first time on Friday 6th February.
Announcing the new fixtures, Neville Smith, Executive Producer Sky Sports Rugby League programming said: "It's the beginning of a new era in Super League with more teams: Salford Reds, and Celtic Crusaders from Wales, a new country to broadcast Super League matches from but one rich in Rugby history.
"We're also looking forward to broadcasting Magic Weekend from Murrayfield this season."
Sky Sports will also show increased coverage of The Co-operative Championship as well as international matches. The Carnegie World Club Championship match between Leeds Rhinos and Manly Sea Eagles on 1st March 2009 will also be shown exclusively live.
All live super league games will be shown in high definition. In addition live coverage of engage Super League on Sky Sports will be available via mobile phone through Sky Anytime Mobile and on PCs via Sky Player.
