Purdham: New deal
I've always been happy in London and so extending my contract was a no brainer
Rob Purdham
Quotes of the week
Club captain Rob Purdham has committed his future to Harlequins by signing a new contract that will run until the end of 2011.
The 29-year-old joined from Whitehaven in 2002 when the Super League side were then known as the London Broncos.
The loose forward, who represented England in last year's World Cup, has gone on to make over 150 appearances for the capital club.
Purdham admits he had no doubts after extending his stay at the Twickenham Stoop with the team currently sitting pretty in fourth spot in the table.
"I've always been happy in London and so extending my contract was a no brainer," Purdham said on his new deal.
"I'm looking forward to helping to cement Harlequins Rugby League as a top Super League club.
"There is a massive pool of talent down here in South East, and I'm looking forward to seeing young Londoners develop into Super League players over the coming years."
Quins boss Brian McDermott is delighted that the player has ignored any interest from other clubs and put pen-to-paper on a two-year extension.
"I cannot stress enough how big a compliment it is to this club, that a player of Rob's calibre and status in the game has chosen to stay with Harlequins," he said.
"Rob has been attracting the attention of other clubs and coaches for a couple of years now and I'm really pleased that he's pledged his future to us."
