Raynor: On target
Hull FC were pushed all the way before late tries from Gareth Raynor, Mark Calderwood and Josh Cordoba ensured a 22-6 win over rock-bottom Celtic Crusaders.
The Crusaders led 6-4 with 10 minutes remaining, however Raynor slid in at the corner for his fourth try of the season to inspire an Airlie Birds fightback.
Calderwood and Cordoba added the gloss on an otherwise unconvincing win as John Dixon's men were denied a first back-to-back success in the engage Super League.
An uneventful first half appeared to be ended scoreless until Craig Hall, recalled from a loan spell with Widnes, finally broke the deadlock seconds before the hooter.
Danny Tickle failed with the goal to sum up an uninspiring half, but Crusaders made an encouraging start to the second and their pressure soon paid off with a score of their own with 50 minutes gone.
Damien Quinn was at the heart of the move that laid on a second score of the year for Jason Chan, softly laying the ball off for the rampaging forward who could not be stopped from 15 yards.
Quinn added the goal and Hull's fans gave the visitors a standing ovation in an unorthodox display of displeasure towards their side.
Their plays did, however, respond to the criticism when it mattered as Raynor latched onto Shaun Berrigan's pass on 70 minutes to touchdown.
Tickle converted from the touchline before Calderwood rubbed salt into Celtic's wounds by skipping in to mark his return from injury with a try after a slick Whiting pass.
Cordoba added more than a shade of unfairness to the scoreline with a close-range effort from the last meaningful play of the game.
