Hull Kingston Rovers centre Kris Welham believes the Robins can recover from their play-off defeats and reach new heights next year.

Justin Morgan's side finished fourth in the Super League in just their third season back at that level, but fell to defeats against both Leeds and Wigan in the play-offs.

Pre-season preparations begin in October, and the Hull-born youngster thinks the Robins will be ready to move forward in 2010.

"We want to carry on from this year and hopefully we can go two steps forward and get to Old Trafford," he told the Hull Daily Mail.

"We'll come back for pre-season in a few weeks hungry to put things right for next season."

Welham played in all 32 games for Hull KR this season, and despite their lack of success in the play-offs, the 22-year-old said he was proud to have reached that stage.

"It hasn't really sunk in yet that I've played in the play-offs in my first full season," he said.

"Hopefully, I can say the same next season and hopefully I can also say I have played in a Grand Final."
