Harlequins have handed prop Dave Williams a new one-year deal.

The 22-year-old will remain at the Twickenham Stoop for the 2010 campaign having come through the club's youth system alongside Tony Clubb and Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook.

Londoner Williams made his debut in 2008 but was restricted to just one first-team appearance this year due to injury.

"I struggled with injuries last season but now I'm raring to go," he said. "You learn so much everyday in training and I can't wait for the pre-season programme to begin.

"I played with Tony Clubb and Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook throughout my junior career; seeing them and others break through into the first team gave me the belief that I could too.

Quins coach Brian McDermott is hoping the forward, who joined the club at the age of 15, can bounce back from an injury-hit season.

"Dave will be the first to admit he had a frustrating year with injury," he added.

"These are still the very early stages of his career and we're all looking forward to getting things back on track."
