Castleford have reversed their decision to release Ryan Clayton by offering the second-rower a one-year contract.

The 26-year-old played in all but one of the Tigers' last 18 matches of the 2009 season but was deemed surplus to requirements when his contract ended at the Jungle.

But the former Halifax and Salford forward has now been welcomed back into the fold as Castleford build for the 2010 Super League season.

"His form was very consistent in the second half of the season and, having considered other options, we felt that he could remain a valuable squad member," said Castleford chief executive Richard Wright.

Meanwhile, hooker Kirk Netherton has activated a clause in his contract that will allow the former Hull KR player to stay for a second season, after comfortably reaching the stipulated 20 appearances this year.

The Tigers are still looking to bolster their 23-man squad with the addition of one more signing and coach Terry Matterson plans to offer full-time contracts to two of the club's promising juniors.
