Harlequins will have to do without Luke Dorn for the first 10 weeks of the new season due to a dislocated shoulder.

The Australian stand-off suffered the injury when a team-mate accidentally fell on him after a tackle had been made during a training session.

Dorn, who has had to have surgery to repair the damage, will now be sidelined for the start of Super League XV.

However, the 27-year-old insists it "could have been a lot worse" and is already plotting a return, provided there are no setbacks in his recovery

Popped out

"I just got tackled and then one of the boys accidentally landed on me, popping my shoulder out," he told skysports.com.

"If I hadn't have gotten the operation then there was a really high chance that it could be dislocated again. It could be a lot worse.

"We've got Melbourne and a Challenge Cup game in that so theoretically, if it all works well and my recovery is on track, I should miss just eight games."

Harlequins kick-off their Super League campaign on Saturday when they welcome Wakefield to the Twickenham Stoop.

The fixture should have taken place in round three but has been moved forward due to the London club's friendly against NRL champions Melbourne Storm on February 21.
