Agen could be set to sign Wales No.8 Andy Powell from under the noses of Crusaders RL.
The Top 14 new boys, who won the ProD2 title last season, are keen to bring in the 28-year-old to bolster their pack ahead of the new campaign.
Powell has had a brief spell playing in France for Beziers back in 2003-04 before he earned a move to Leicester.
Powell, though, has been strongly linked to a switch from Cardiff Blues to rugby league, with the Crusaders reportedly having had an offer rejected.
The Brecon-born forward has attended a number of Crusaders games and is friends with former Wales captain Gareth Thomas, who made the move to Wrexham from the Blues ahead of the current Super League season.
However reports from France claim Powell is close to agreeing a move to Agen, having held talks with the club following a break away to Amsterdam.
