Warrington coach Tony Smith could welcome back Matt King, Paul Wood and Louis Anderson for Saturday's visit of St Helens.

King was rested for last weekend's disappointing 29-28 loss to Catalans Dragons while Anderson and Wood were out injured.

"We have a few bumps and bruises, nothing out of the ordinary," said Smith. "We are not too far off having most of our troops back this weekend.

"We'll assess them as the week goes on but most players have been able to train pretty well.

"I am pretty sure Kingy will come through this week. We run tests on all our players and monitor their fatigue levels.

"We try to prevent injury rather than cause it. We take care of them and the signs were there for some of our players that injury wouldn't be far from them. We kept them out of the front line."

Warrington - who have a two-point advantage over Saints at the top of the engage Super League - have won just one of their last 42 games against the Merseysiders, and that came in 2001.

Wood, who played in that last victory at Warrington's old Wilderspool ground, said: "I got a small tear in my quad and so I missed the game against Catalans.

"I was just advised to rest and then it'd take 10-12 days to fully heal.

"Hopefully I'll be fit for Saints. It's going to be a massive game with a good atmosphere at a packed-out stadium."
