Hull have imposed an alcohol ban ahead of Saturday's play-off derby with Hull KR in a bid to prevent another instance of crowd trouble.

Saturday's game against Leeds was held up at half-time while stewards ejected a fan who ran onto the pitch, while Rhinos winger Scott Donald was tackled by a supporter towards the end of the match.

The club is set to ban the second offender for life and, after highlighting three recent incidences of what they call 'anti-social behaviour', have taken a hard-line stance.

"At our home game against the Crusaders an individual threw an empty drinks bottle onto the field of play," said Hull chief executive James Rule.

"At our recent fixture against Leeds Rhinos two separate fans encroached onto the field of play and it is alleged that one made contact with Scott Donald.

"The SMC (stadium management company) are in the process of conducting a full investigation into the incidences of anti-social behaviour that took place on Saturday.

"The investigation is not yet complete, however I believe that we need to take proactive action to ensure that the good name of this club is not tarnished by the action of one or two individuals.

"It is not just about reputation, incidences such as this run the risk of sanction from the RFL."

The League spokesman has praised the club's 'swift and appropriate' response to the latest events, with more than 20,000 expected to attend Saturday's game.
