England coach Steve McNamara has named 10 players in his initial train-on squad for the Four Nations Series in Australia and New Zealand.

The former Bradford boss has included four from his old club, Bulls captain Andy Lynch being joined by team-mates Jamie Langley, Nick Scruton and Paul Sykes.

There are also three from Harlequins - Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook, who is heading to St Helens next season, Tony Clubb and Ben Jones-Bishop.

The squad is completed by Castleford pair Joe Westerman and Michael Shenton and Salford winger Jodie Broughton.

McNamara has only selected from those Super League clubs who failed to make the play-offs, with only Wakefield Wildcats and Catalans Dragons failing to provide any representatives.

Training

The 10 players, who were all in McNamara's 37-strong squad for the mid-season get-together, will begin training next Wednesday.

England play a warm-up match against Cumbria in aid of the family of Garry Purdham which will take place at Whitehaven on Sunday, October 3.

McNamara will add further names once clubs are knocked out of the play-offs. His final 24-man party will be announced on the Monday after the Grand Final.

He has also been able to name ex-Bradford forward Sam Burgess in his squad after his Australian club South Sydney failed to make the NRL play-offs.

However Burgess will remain Down Under and, if selected, will join the rest of the squad en route to New Zealand on Saturday, October 9.

Melbourne Storm full-back Gareth Widdop and Wests Tigers second rower Gareth Ellis are also expected to be called up once their club commitments have finished for the year.
