Meninga 'would consider' Saints

Queensland coach Mal Meninga would consider an offer to coach St Helens, according to his agent.

Saints are searching for a replacement for Mick Potter, who will leave Knowsley Road at the end of the season.

St Helens chairman Eamon McManus is due to fly out to Australia to step up the search for a coach and is expected to hold talks with Meninga, who is currently preparing Queensland for what he hopes will be a fifth consecutive State of Origin series triumph on June 16.

"Mal is comfortable doing what he does for Queensland and at this stage I can tell you no offer has been made," Meninga's agent, Jim Banaghan, told Australia's Rugby League Week magazine.

"If an offer does come, you could say Mal will consider it. St Helens only chase top-level coaches and he certainly fits into that category. He is someone who deserves to be considered for such a prestige job."
