Melling: New deal with Quins
Chris Melling has signed a new two-year contract with Harlequins that will keep him at club until the end of the 2011 season.
The utility player, who can feature at full-back, on the wing and also at hooker, moved to the Twickenham Stoop from Wigan back in 2006.
The 24-year-old, a fully-qualified physiotherapist, was capped by Great Britain in 2007, playing in the one-off Test against France.
"The next few years will be very exciting for the club," Melling said after signing his new deal.
"At senior level Harlequins are developing into real contenders for the Super League, whilst at a junior level we are nurturing young talent and growing the game in London.
"I'm very happy playing my rugby in London and had no doubts about committing my future to Harlequins."
Quins coach Brian McDermott is delighted to have tied down Melling for the next two seasons and believes the player can now kick on and earn further international honours.
"Chris recognises that very positive things are happening in London and I'm very pleased that Chris Melling has decided to stay with us," he said.
"He's got a driving ambition to represent GB again and we're going to do our best to help him get there."
