Wigan boss Michael Maguire has dismissed speculation linking him with a quick return to Australia.

"It's very flattering. You're always going to get speculation in coaching circles but I'm focused on what I'm doing here at Wigan"
Michael Maguire Quotes of the week

The former Melbourne Storm assistant steered the Warriors to the Super League title in his first season in charge at the DW Stadium.

His efforts have not gone unnoticed back in his homeland, with several Australian clubs likely to be needing a new coach in the near future.

Wayne Bennett's likely departure from St George Illawarra is set to spark a coaching merry-go-round Down Under, although Maguire - who is contracted to Wigan for another two years - insists he's happy in England.

Flattering

"I'm very happy here and I'm signed here so I'm staying," Maguire said at the launch of the new Super League season at Old Trafford.

"It's very flattering. You're always going to get speculation in coaching circles but I'm focused on what I'm doing here at Wigan.

"I don't look too far ahead. I'm concentrating on what we're doing this weekend."

Meanwhile, Maguire is confident his Wigan team can cope with the pressure of defending their Super League trophy this year.

The Warriors kick-off their campaign on Saturday with a derby clash against arch rivals St Helens - the side they beat in last year's Grand Final - in Cardiff.

"I've been lucky enough to be at a team in the past that has been chased for many years," added Maguire. "I'm looking forward to it and I know the players are. I think they're more hungry now than they ever have been."
