Wigan prop Jeff Lima has been handed a two-match suspension by the Rugby Football League, ruling him out of the World Club Challenge.

The New Zealand international, who joined the engage Super League champions from Melbourne Storm in the close season, was found guilty of separate "chicken-wing" tackles on his debut in the Warriors' 16-16 draw with St Helens in the opening match of the season in Cardiff on Saturday.

One incident, in which undue pressure is placed on the arms of the ball-carrier, was brought to the attention of referee Richard Silverwood by St Helens forward Jon Wilkin during the game while the RFL's match review panel also charged Lima with a similar offence on Sia Soliola.

Lima, who was also fined £300, will miss Wigan's trip to Bradford on February 20 and the showdown with Australian champions St George Illawarra at the DW Stadium a week later.

Punch

Salford hooker Wayne Godwin, meanwile, has also been suspended for two matches and fined £300 for running in and punching Crusaders captain Clinton Schifcofske after the final whistle of his side's 42-12 defeat at the Millennium Stadium.

Godwin, who was on debut for the City Reds, was sent off for the offence and appeared automatically in front of the RFL disciplinary committee.

Wakefield centre Aaron Murphy was banned for two games after being found guilty of a dangerous throw in the 40-20 defeat by Castleford but is set to appeal.

And Castleford forward Steve Snitch will miss his team's game against Huddersfield on Saturday evening after being banned for one match for a tackle that placed undue pressure on the joints of Wakefield's Paul Johnson.

Why is jeff banned for the world club, why not banned for 2 super league games. if you get banned in football you a banned from that comp.ie, set off in premier league you are not banned for a euro match. the WWC is a different comp, We miss out on one of the best forwards in the world playing in what should be the best game of the season. gutted.
