Daly heading Down Under

Daly: Australia trip

I really love coming to Australia. The Coolum course is great, the fans love their golf and I hope I can come back this year and really put in a good performance.

John Daly has confirmed he will play two events in Australia in December.

The American will tee it up at the Australian Open in Sydney (Dec 2-5) and the following week's Australian PGA Championship (Dec 9-12) in Queensland's Coolum resort.

"I really love coming to Australia," Daly, who has been a huge drawcard for fans on previous trips Down Under, said in a statement released by the Australian PGA.

"The Coolum course is great, the fans love their golf and I hope I can come back this year and really put in a good performance."

The two-time major winner's previous visits to Australia have been controversial - he smashed a spectator's camera into a tree at the Australian Open two years ago and was disqualified from the PGA tournament in 2002 after throwing his putter in a lake and failing to sign his scorecard.

He vowed never to return to the country after complaining of negative media treatment but, having slimmed down, reappeared last year.
