Ding Junhai battled back from 4-2 down against Matthew Stevens to book his place in the second round of the Grand Prix in Glasgow.

A measured 105 break cut the deficit to one frame and the Chinese potter went on to seal his place in the draw for the last 16, which takes place on Tuesday.

Stevens had started the match purposefully, capitalising on a series of mistakes from Ding to march 2-0 ahead.

The Welshman kept his opponent at arms length after Ding missed a costly green in frame four, however the man from Carmarthen failed to close out victory, and Ding progressed.

Joining the 22-year-old in round two is Robert Milkins, a comprehensive 5-1 victor over Ali Carter in the afternoon's other match.

The Gloucestershire player signalled his intent by winning the opening frame 105-0, and although Carter levelled, that was as good as it got for the Essex cueman.

Milkins reeled off the next four frames to cause another shock at the Scotland event.
