Stephen Lee also secured a place in the draw for the televised stages with a comfortable 10-2 result against Mike Dunn.

Meanwhile, Jamie Cope clinched a 10-5 win over Mark Joyce that included a top break of 108 and eight other runs of 50 or more.

The 2008 Shanghai Masters champion was knocked out by Anda Zhang - nicknamed Mighty Mouse due to standing at five feet three inches tall. The 18-year-old from China clinched a 10-8 result with back-to-back centuries.

Stuart Bingham also tumbled out, suffering a 10-2 hammering at the hands of Stuart Pettman, who knocked in five half-centuries.
