Neil Robertson edged into a 9-7 lead over Graeme Dott at the end of the second session of the Betfred.com World Championship final.

The Australian had trailed 5-3 but won six of the eight frames played on Sunday evening to put him in pole position to take the title.

Having made just one break over 50 in the afternoon action at the Crucible, Robertson quickly found his scoring touch with runs of 61, 90 and 79.

He also pinched the third frame of the night on a respotted black, after securing a snooker just to stay alive, to go 8-6 ahead.

Dott responds

Dott - the 2006 champion - answered back to cut the gap by one and then looked set to take the last frame.

However a fluffed swerve shot allowed in Robertson, who made sure he would go to bed with a two-frame advantage thanks to an impressive break of 70.

Hanging onto his lead is not the only worry for the man from Down Under though, as his Norwegian girlfriend Mille was due to give birth on Sunday.

"Hopefully she can just hang on for a few days yet," he said.

"She's told me just to play and not worry about it too much. Being a first time, usually they're a little bit late.

"Every single part of my life right now is so exciting.

"We were talking about the due date, how wouldn't it be funny if I got to the final? Now it's happened, it's really strange.

"I haven't been thinking about it at all during my matches but it's obviously a fantastic time for me."
