Quotes of the week
The Eastbourne Eagles are closing in on a new number seven to complete their line-up for 2008.
The Eagles named their first six names for the 2008 season - Scott Nicholls, Lee Richardson, Edward Kennett, Lewis Bridger, Cameron Woodward and Simon Gustafsson - in December.
But they have since failed to land New Zealand youngster Ricky Wells, because of his decision to ride with an American licence.
Despite the setback with Wells, the club is holding an open session at Arlington on Sunday and promoter Martin Hagon is confident the Eagles will appoint a new number seven soon.
"I hope he will be practising this weekend," Hagon told Sport Express.
"We could have filled the gap a while ago, no problem, but it is a question of finding the right person.
"Somebody has made contact with us. I think he will be a good signing."
Eastbourne get the new campaign underway on March 15 with new skipper Richardson set to meet his former club Swindon Robins in the Craven Shield.
