Wolves supremo Chris van Straaten has warned his side he wants a top-four finish this term.
Wolverhampton are one of the big hitters in the Sky Sports Elite League but they have been without a league title since 2002.
Now after another relatively poor campaign last year, van Straaten wants a response this time around.
"We under achieved last season and we have put that right. We have to aim for a top-four place and the play-offs as the minimum requirement and the riders will be told this," said van Straaten in the Speedway Star.
"But we want to allow our new signings time to settle in at the start of the season and that's what the press and practice has been for, plus we arranged a private practice behind the scenes.
"Hopefully the team will gel and we can hit the ground running, it's a big season and we need everyone pulling in the same direction."
Meanwhile, Wolves star David Howe has declared himself fit for the start of the season despite having surgery at the end of last month.
Howe crashed at the Telford ice meeting which meant he needed an operation on his foot.
But he is now back in the saddle and raring to go.
"It feels fine when I'm on the bike," said Howe.
"I'm still walking awkwardly but I did plenty of laps on Tuesday and I feel good about it all."
