Davey Watt - top scored for Poole Fotospeedway.pl
Poole Pirates booked their place in the next round of the Craven Shield after only just losing 46-44 at Swindon on Thursday.
Indeed the meeting was decided in the last heat with Leigh Adams and Travis McGowan making sure the Robins ended their campaign with victory.
But because Poole kept it close, they top the Southern group ahead of Swindon and Eastbourne Eagles - who both miss out on the next round.
While Adams once again top scored for Swindon with 13+1, Poole turned in a good team display - although they did lose number two Adam Skornicki to a broken wrist, whilst Theo Pijper broke his collarbone in the same accident for The Robins.
Davey Watt top-scored with 9+2, but Bjarne Pedersen, Freddie Eriksson and Karol Zabik all provided substantial back-up.
Poole must now wait for the other two sections to finish to see whether they will progress straight to the final or is they need to ride in the semi-finals.
Ipswich Witches completed their Craven Shield campaign with a 61-31 demolition of Peterborough Panthers at Foxhall.
The Witches were led by home by Piotr Swiderski with 13+2 - who ironically is a Panthers asset.
Fellow Pole Jarek Hampel continued his good form since making the return to Suffolk with 12+1, whilst rider-coach Chris Louis also claimed double figures.
Also for Ipswich, German reserve Tobi Kroner weighed in with a brilliant paid maximum from his four rides.
Peterborough showed that they could very well struggle all season away from home with the only real opposition coming from Hans Andersen who weight in with 14 - which included a tactical second place.
Particularly disappointing for Peterborough would have been their reserves - Henrik Moller and Claus Vissing - who managed just a point between them all night.
Ipswich must now wait for the double header between Peterborough and Lakeside to see whether they will progress from the Eastern group, although their emphatic win over the Panthers means the pressure is on the other two.
The Northern group is waiting on the double header between reigning champions Coventry and Belle Vue, to decide whether one of them or Wolves will progress to the last three.
See what has got the Sky Sports experts' tongues wagging over a busy seven days in sport.
