Poole Pirates have completed the permanent signing of Freddie Eriksson.
The Swede has been considering quitting the sport as it looked as if he may not be able to land a contract after his former club Oxford went out of business.
Poole took him on and Eriksson has responded in scintillating fashion - including a brilliant paid 18 at Belle Vue on Monday, which was live on Sky Sports.
Now Poole have bought his contract from the BSPA after they took over his ownership last year.
"This is a huge signing for Poole Speedway. Freddie has been a revelation in the first six weeks of the season," Pirates chief Matt Ford told the club's official website.
"I have been tracking Freddie for a couple of years and tried to sign him twice without any joy.
"He's had difficult times for his former British clubs and in Sweden where the respective teams he's ridden for have run into financial problems which has affected him in the pocket and sapped his enthusiasm.
"As a result he became disillusioned with the sport. But after we lost Australian Craig Watson through a mathematical mix-up on the eve of the season, I decided to go back to Freddie and try to talk him into returning to Britain again.
"I asked him to give us a try for six weeks and see if we could get his racing spark back. I think the results are there for all to see.
"He's been a dream to work with on and off the track and I kept my promise by landing his contract from the British Speedway Promoters Association.
"The impressive part of his form for us so far this season is that he has been riding some of his old bikes after his 2008 engines have been held up in transit."
See what has got the Sky Sports experts' tongues wagging over a busy seven days in sport.
