Great Britain boss Jim Lynch has nominated his six riders to compete for a Grand Prix place in 2009.

Chris Harris, who along with Scott Nicholls represents Britain in the Grand Prix series this year, will be joined by Lee Richardson, Simon Stead, David Howe, Ed Kennett and Daniel King in a bid to secure a place in next year's championship.

Harris and Richardson go to Czestochowa in Poland, Stead and King will travel to qualifiers in Lonigo, Italy while Kennett and Howe will race in Abensburg, Germany.

Nicholls has opted out of the qualifying stage confident that he will once again book his place in the final 15 by securing a top eight place in this year's standings.

"Last year the British Final decided this, but the timing isn't right which I find a shame," Lynch told Speedway Star. "It would have been good to have this riding on such a meeting.

"I know I can't please everyone... all I can do is provide the consistent answer that I've gone on last year's averages.

"There's a lot of positive feeling amongst the British boys. We can either sit back and listen to the doom merchants who say we are rubbish, or we can have the belief and go into the World Cup this summer aiming to prove a point."
