Harris hits form for Bees Fotospeedway.pl
Craven Shield holders Coventry Bees produced a spectacular performance to secure passage into this season's final after beating Poole Pirates 92-90 on aggregate.
Poole were firm favourites to progress after taking securing a 24-point lead into the second leg after securing a 58-34 win over The Bees at Wimborne Road on Wednesday.
But Coventry produced by far their best performance of the season with brilliant displays from Chris Harris, Simon Stead and Billy Janniro.
Harris and Stead both claimed paid 15-point maximums, whilst American ace Janniro claimed 14+3.
Stan Burza grabbed nine from reserve and they could even afford Rory Schlein to score just 6 from number 3.
Indeed a truly below-par performance from Poole saw them claim just three heat wins all evening - with two of those coming from Chris Holder, who top-scored with eight points.
Adam Skornicki claimed the other win and eight points but there was little else in terms of back-up.
Coventry secured the win with a brilliant maximum from Harris and Janniro. Poole will look back to heat 11 when with Bjarne Pedersen on a tactical ride they had an 8-1 - but instead of sitting behind team-mate Skornicki, the Dane tried to go around him and crashed out.
Coventry will now face Lakeside in the final. The Hammers were also in action on Friday as they moved clear in second place in the Sky Sports Elite League with victory over Ipswich Witches.
Lakeside were led home well by Andreas Jonsson with 13 points - indeed he was only denied his maximum in the final heat, as was his team-mate Adam Shields, as Ipswich claimed a last ditch 5-1.
There was solid back-up for The Hammers' top-two with Jonas Kylmakorpi, Leigh Lanham, Lubos Tomicek and Jonas Davidsson all claiming 6 points.
Ipswich number two Steve Johnston was their best performer with 14+2 with Piotr Swiderski (11) backing up well and indeed it was their pairing which denied Jonsson and Shields in the final heat.
Ipswich had Ed Kennett guesting at number one but his 6+3 was below expectations whilst Jarek Hampel was disappointing with just 4.
See what has got the Sky Sports experts' tongues wagging over a busy seven days in sport.
