Kasprzak: Makes Poole return
Poole Pirates have moved quickly to sign Grand Prix star Krzysztof Kasprzak.
Kasprzak, a Poole asset, will return to the club as a temporary replacement for captain Bjarne Pedersen.
Pedersen broke a wrist, which could sideline him for up to six weeks, at Coventry on Friday when Poole surrendered a 24-point first leg lead in their Craven Shield semi-final.
Kasprzak will now make his return live on Sky Sports on Bank Holiday Monday when Poole face Swindon Robins.
Poole chief Matt Ford needed to move quickly with Polish duo Karol Zabik and Zibi Suchecki already sidelined.
"I think I must have driven over a cattery of black cats with the level of luck we are having and I am still very upset that we effectively allowed a 26 point advantage to slip through our fingers," Ford told the club's website.
"We were level on the night after 5 heats and I really thought that we could win this but in the end Billy Janniro rode like a man and unfortunately we had no men in our camp. It hurts to say that but it was not a good performance.
"The track was not suited to our riders and did get heavier and heavier as the meeting progressed. That played into the hands of three of the Bees who just loved it. I can only hope that we are getting all of our bad luck out of the way now and we can move forward from here."
"We have decided to bring in Krzysztof straight away, in time for Monday night as that change fits easily enough mathematically, as Kasprzak comes in on a lesser average for team building purposes than Bjarne. It is the first time since 2002 when Bjarne won't have been part of our declared 1 to 7 and this move has been done with a view to bringing Bjarne back in once fit.
"We are also keeping our options open as to regards our other two injuries (Suchecki and Zabik) and it could well be that we will make a further redeclaration in time for our visit to Peterborough on Thursday."
