Swindon extended their lead at the top of the Sky Sports Elite League on Thursday night whilst Poole moved into third.
The Robins excellent season continued at Blunsdon although they were pushed all the way by champions Coventry Bees and only wrapped up the 49-43 win in the final heat.
Swindon's three heatleaders were in fine form with Leigh Adams (13+1), Mads Korneliussen (11) and Troy Batchelor (10+1) all grabbing double figures to guide them home.
Coventry skipper Chris Harris led his team well with 12 points and there was excellent back-up from their other big hitters Simon Stead (9+1) and Rory Schlein (8+1), but the stand-out performance was young guest Ben Barker with a brilliant nine points.
Coventry went into the last heat trailing by two points but Harris touched the tapes which meant he had to go off 15 metres start, but in the re-run the British number one clashed with Batchelor - he was excluded and the heat was awarded giving Swindon the victory.
Early season favourites Poole Pirates are up to third after clinching a comprehensive 57-35 away win at Peterborough.
The Panthers' unbeaten record at the East of England showground - dating back to September 2006, always looked vulnerable this season with their weakened team and so it transpired as Poole roared to the three points.
An injury early on to Hans Andersen - who crashed out in his second ride after winning the first heat, meant Peterborough were always up against it.
Kenneth Bjerre did his best with 14 - but there was little else on show for The Panthers as The Pirates roared to victory.
Australian starlet Chris Holder was in sensational form with 13, as was fellow countryman Davey Watt - who grabbed a 12-point maximum.
The returning Krzysztof Kasprzak also had a very good night with 10+1 whilst their reserves Adam Skornicki (9+3) and Craig Watson (9+2) were also on form.
Ipswich moved into sixth after a 53-38 victory over Wolverhampton Wolves at Foxhall.
The Witches were far too strong for their Midlands rivals - even though they were without the injured Chris Louis.
Jarek Hampel's excellent home form continued with 13, whilst Robert Miskowiak (12+1), Piotr Swiderski (9+1) and Tobi Kroner (9+1) all scored well.
Wolves' top three of Freddie Lindgren (13), Niels Kristian Iversen (12+2) and David Howe (8) put up some resistance but there was little else the visitors could do with their other four riders providing just five points.
See what has got the Sky Sports experts' tongues wagging over a busy seven days in sport.
