Adam Skornicki was in inspired form during the Poole Pirates' 48-41 victory away at Eastbourne Eagles on Monday.
Skornicki claimed 18+1 points, including four wins from seven rides, on an eventful evening at Arlington Stadium.
The result moves the Pirates within one point of the Swindon Robins at the top of the Sky Sports Elite League, while the Eagles are in third, a further four points back.
Eastbourne's cause was hampered when Lee Richardson (2) aggravated a wrist injury in a crash during heat five. Richardson, who was excluded from the re-run, bravely continued for another heat before the pain became too great and he was forced to withdraw from the rest of the meeting.
Richardson's team-mate Lewis Bridger (6+1) also took a tumble in heat six but was not badly hurt and returned to win heat eight as the Eagles battled to keep tabs on the visitors.
Skornicki's heat 14 triumph put his side 44-39 in front heading into the last race of the night, where Krzysztof Kasprzak sealed the result for the Pirates by storming round the outside of Scott Nicholls (13+1) for the victory.
"I'm over the moon," Poole promoter Matt Ford told Sky Sports.
On Skornicki, he added: "He's been sensational - the find of the season."
Elsewhere on Monday, the Belle Vue Aces recorded a 47-43 success over the Swindon Robins. Jason Crump led the way for the Aces with 14 points, including four heat wins.
The Lakeside Hammers triumphed 49-41 at the Coventry Bees. Andreas Jonsson won five heats for a 17-point haul.
See what has got the Sky Sports experts' tongues wagging over a busy seven days in sport.
