Pedersen: Maximum (fotospeeday.pl)
Eastbourne capitalised on a severely weakened Coventry side to record a 50-40 triumph in their Elite League clash on Saturday.
Missing their entire top five, the Bees nevertheless gave the hosts a run for their money with guest Freddie Lindgren (14) leading the way and regular reserves Stan Burza and Andreas Messing putting up improved displays.
Eagles were also without Lee Richardson and Ed Kennett, who were competing in the Grand Prix qualifiers with Coventry duo Simon Stead and Rory Schlein, but Poole's Bjarne Pedersen proved an excellent guest with a 15-point haul to lead Eastbourne home.
Burza (7) claimed a fine heat win over Cameron Woodward and Lewis Bridger to keep the Bees in touch but their injury jinx struck again when guest Steve Johnston was forced to give up his later rides after taking a knock on the head in heat 10.
It left the visitors short of manpower and Eastbourne were able to wrap up the points in the penultimate race thanks to a maximum from Woodward (9+2) and Simon Gustafsson (8+1).
See what has got the Sky Sports experts' tongues wagging over a busy seven days in sport.
