Richardson: Into final
Lee Richardson will be the only British rider in the Grand Prix qualifying final in September following the semi-finals over the weekend.
The former GP star is well in contention to return to the highest level in the sport, where currently only two Brits, Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris, ride.
Richardson was one of five Britons who went into the qualifiers in Terenazno and Motala - but only he made it through as David Howe, Danny King, Simon Stead and British GP wildcard Ed Kennett all bowed out.
Richardson rode in Terenazno and the Eastbourne Eagles man took top-spot after beating Jesper B Monberg in a run-off for first place after each finished the meeting on 12 points.
Third place went to Swede Peter Ljung, who beat Seb Ulamek in a run-off for the final podium place.
Matej Zagar, Charlie Gjedde and Ryan Sullivan all progressed on 10 points, while the final qualifying place was also decided by a run-off with Pole Adrian Miedzinski got the better of Croatian youngster Jurica Pavlic.
Current GP series rider Lukas Dryml was the shock name to go out, as he failed to get through along with the only other Brit on show in Terenazno, David Howe.
In Motala, Swedish veteran Peter Karlsson led the field home with 14 points, three points clear of his nearest rival.
Second place went to another Swede Jonas Davidsson, who beat Niels-Kristian Iversen in a run-off.
The next five riders, Matej Ferjan, Tomasz Jedrzejak, Daniel Nermark, Greg Walasek and Kenneth Bjerre all qualified on nine points
Bjerre's qualification was all the more remarkable as he only went into the meeting as the official reserve, but Australian Davey Watt could not make it after riding for his club Poole on Friday, and so Bjerre came in a grasped his opportunity with both hands.
Ed Kennett, Daniel King and Simon Stead all disappointingly went out.
See what has got the Sky Sports experts' tongues wagging over a busy seven days in sport.
