Great Britain have named their squad for the World Cup opener at Coventry.

GB race in the second semi-final at Brandon on July 14 where they will face Scandinavian heavyweights Denmark and Sweden, along with qualifiers Czech Republic.

For the opening meeting team boss Jim Lynch has opted for local knowledge with all five of his team either currently or have previously ridden for the Coventry Bees.

Skipper Scott Nicholls and Lee Richardson are both former Bees, whilst the remaining trio are current Coventry riders in the shape of Chris Harris, Simon Stead and Olly Allen.

"We've packed the team for the Monday night full of Coventry track specialists and I'll be interested to see how they go when you consider the Final is there next year," said Lynch.

The top side from each semi-final qualify straight for the final in Vojens - whilst the next two then take-part in the Race-off, with the top-two from that making up the final places.

Britain are almost certain make changes for either the Race-off or final, if they make it that far - with Ed Kennett and 17-year-old star Tai Woffinden also named in the squad.
