Barker - great win (credit: Les Aubrey)
Coventry retrieved a 10-point deficit to win a crucial basement battle with Wolverhampton 48-45 at Brandon on Friday night.
Simon Stead turned in one of his best performances for the club with 13 points while crucial wins for Olly Allen and reserve Ben Barker gave the Bees a timely boost as they turned the meeting around.
The hosts found themselves behind 26-16 after heat seven when Nicolai Klindt (11+2) and Niels-Kristian Iversen teamed up for a maximum.
But Coventry riders won six of the remaining eight heats - Allen winning a double-point tactical in the eighth - while Barker beat GP star Freddie Lindgren in the 11th to bring the Bees to within a point of their rivals.
Rory Schlein and Chris Harris teamed up for a maximum in the crucial Heat 13 to give the hosts a winning lead, and with Stead filling second in the finale it was Coventry who took the points and climb out of the bottom two.
Elsewhere, Lakeside maintained their 100 percent home record with a 55-38 victory over Ipswich after overcoming a sticky start.
Witches reserve Tobias Kroner (12) won three of the first eight heats, leading home Piotr Swiderski in the opener as the visitors operated rider replacement for the injured Chris Louis.
But Adam Shields (14) won the third and five races to keep the Hammers in touch and they were 18-12 ahead following his second win, teaming up with Jonas Davidsson for the first of two maximums for the pair on the night.
Joonas Kylmakorpi (10+1) produced a consistent performance while Andreas Jonsson (10) overcame the disappointment of his first race to win his next three.
Swiderski (13+2) claimed a tactical ride triumph in Heat 11 to give the visitors renewed hope but successive 5-1s for the hosts soon put them back in control.
See what has got the Sky Sports experts' tongues wagging over a busy seven days in sport.
