Sky Sports League leaders Poole Pirates showed their class as they grabbed a 51-42 victory at Swindon to consolidate their place at the summit.

Swindon could have gone within two points of Poole if they had taken victory, but they succumbed to an excellent all-round display from the visitors.

Inspirational captain Leigh Adams played his part with an 18-point maximum whilst Croatian starlet Jurica Pavlic showed his undoubted talent from reserve with 12+1.

But there was far too little form elsewhere with Mads Korneliussen, Travis McGowan and Troy Batchelor contributing just 11 between them.

Poole were led brilliantly by captain Bjarne Pedersen (11), whilst Chris Holder (9+2) and Davey Watt (8+1) again did well from the other heat-leading places.

Swedish pair Magnus Zetterstrom (10+1) and Freddie Eriksson (7+3) also weighed in with hefty scores to help Poole to their second league win at Swindon this year.

No Andersen for Bees

One of the most eagerly anticipated matches of the season at the East of England Showground between Peterborough and Coventry, turned into an anti-climax after Hans Andersen was denied involvement in the meeting.

Andersen has just left Peterborough after a dispute with the Panthers' management and he signed for Coventry earlier this week and the BSPA approved the deal.

But just hours before the meeting, BSPA retracted their permission and Coventry had to use Rory Schlein instead - who has already agreed a deal with Ipswich.

Without Andersen and against a new look Panthers, Coventry were always going to find it tough and that is how it proved with the home side sealing a 51-38 success.

Kenneth Bjerre lead the side home with 12+1, but returning legend Ryan Sullivan showed he still loves it around the Showground as he claimed 12.

Fellow new signings Karol Zabik and Lukas Dryml both claimed four.

Coventry showed just why they need Andersen as nobody could hit double figures with British star Chris Harris top scoring with 9+2.

Witches win

The final meeting of the evening saw Ipswich claim a 48-42 success over Belle Vue at Foxhall.

The Witches, who will introduce Schlein to their line-up next week, drafted in Eastbourne's Ed Kennett as guest and he scored well with 9+1.

Ipswich's top performer was Polish ace Jarek Hampel who grabbed 16.

Jason Crump led The Aces with 14, whilst youngsters Billy Forsberg (9+1) and Patrick Hougaard (7+1) both did well.
