Coventry Bees were left fuming after they were refused the right to track Hans Andersen at Peterborough.
The Bees signed Andersen from The Panthers after he publicly fell out with the club.
Following Andersen's exit, Peterborough brought in Ryan Sullivan, Lukas Dryml and Karol Zabik - all of whom rode on Thursday.
However, just hours before the meeting the BSPA - who originally approved the deal - confirmed to the match referee that Andersen was not eligible and could not ride.
Bees owner Allen Trump was left seething at the decision and at one point contemplated withdrawing his side from the match.
"The Management Committee issued a directive in mid-afternoon on Thursday to referee Tony Steele that Hans was not eligible to ride for Coventry in this meeting," revealed Trump.
"I was very disappointed in this ruling as we had previously been given the okay to use Hans. He was here with his bikes, ready to go, and at literally the last minute we were informed that we couldn't use him.
"It was Tony who received the confirmation from Management Committee that Hans couldn't ride, and obviously we queried it and wouldn't accept it.
"There were telephone calls to and from the chairman and the vice-chairman of the BSPA, but ultimately the decision of the Management Committee over-ruled what we had previously been told.
"I don't believe that walking out, in front of what was probably Peterborough's biggest crowd of the season, was really an option - it's always the ultimate option, but it isn't really.
"I know if I was a supporter and the away team pulled out, I wouldn't be very impressed, so I couldn't really consider it as a serious option.
"Hans remained with us throughout the meeting and he was absolutely brilliant. He gelled us together, he helped the riders throughout and was superb with the Coventry lads.
"He makes his debut on Monday along with Filip Sitera so that will be a big night for us against Poole in the Knockout Cup, and we're looking forward to it."
